Death to Life, by Brielle Barlow
Your latest facade
This lie that you live
I collect truth
Harsh, but not false
Break the barrier when
Corruption crumbles
Greatness succumbs
No one escapes
But they don’t value me
The power to leave
Whenever they wish
Untimely or timely
Entitled peasants
They rule a masquerade
The cloak of charade
Ungrateful for privilege
Yearn for immortality
Crave youth
Age is power, not a flaw
Experience, a journey
You swim in the sea
Of a whirlpool
You think is the ocean
The fakeness of you
The fairness of me
When alive, it’s just luck
You can work to the top
But I make all equal
The criminals and saints
All kneel before
Your cathedral of glass
Is nothing but mirrors
Reflections of what
They believe to be true
When the only certain thing
Is me
